He received the B.S. degree from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (UESTC) in 2006, and the Ph.D. degree in communications and information engineering from UESTC in 2013. In 2012, he was a visiting researcher at Tsinghua University. From 2015 to 2018, he conducted postdoctoral research at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). He has been a research associate professor at SJTU since 2019. His main research interests include signal and image processing, machine learning, and robotic navigation. His research has been published in top-tier journals and conferences such as IEEE TSP, IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TIP, IEEE TRO and ICML. He is a Senior Member of IEEE. He serves as an associate editor for the International Journal of Robotics Research (IJRR) from 1/2023 to 12/2025 (IJRR, established in 1982, is the first scholarly publication on robotics research).

He has been awarded three funding from National Nature Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and another two from Science and Technology Innovation 2030-Major Project of China "Brain Science and Brain-Like Intelligence Technology" and  "The New Generation Artificial Intellegence". He also have collaboration research projects with China Electronics Technology Group Corporation, Aviation Industry Corporation of China, and SAMSUNG.
