Dr. Jinyang Xu, MASME, MSCS, AMIMechE, is an Associate Professor and a Doctoral Supervisor of Mechanical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China. He is a senior member of ASME, SME and IMechE. He was awarded as a talent of the Shanghai Pujiang Program by Shanghai Municipality in 2017. He received his M.Sc. (2013) in Mechanical Manufacturing & Automation from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China, and the Ph.D. (2016) in Mechanical Engineering from Arts et Métiers ParisTech, France. His research interests focus on composites machining, numerical modeling, micro/nano cutting and surface texturing, and he has been involved in the fields of composites manufacturing and processing for nearly 10 years. He has published over fifty peer-reviewed articles and edited four special issues in refereed international journals and conference proceedings. He is currently serving as the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Coating Science and Technology (JCST), the Associate Editor of SIMULATION - Transactions of the Society for Modeling and Simulation International (indexed by SCI/EI), and the Academic Editors/Board Members of International Journal of Aerospace Engineering (indexed by SCI/EI), Advances in Materials Science and Engineering (indexed by SCI/EI), Journal of Engineering (indexed by ESCI/SCOPUS), and Current Materials Science (indexed by SCOPUS/EI). He has been invited as a keynote speaker for the 9th International Advances in Applied Physics & Materials Science Congress & Exhibition (APMAS 2019, October 22-28, 2019, Ölüdeniz, Turkey) and has been elected as the international committee members of many international conferences such as APMAS2019 (October 22-28, 2019, Ölüdeniz, Turkey), ICEMSEE2020 (March 10-11, 2020, Taipei, China), ECMC2020 (June 09-11, 2020, Stockholm, Sweden) and AMSE2021 (March 12-15, 2021, Vienna, Austria) conferences. He is the principal investigator of some national and provincial projects including the NSFC fund projects, Shanghai Pujiang Talents Program, Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology projects, State Key Laboratory of Mechanical System and Vibration fund projects, as well as a number of industrial projects. For his notable and outstanding research in the field of Materials Processing & Manufacturing, he was honored with the prestigious IAAM Scientist Medal of the year 2020 by the world-renowned scientific research organization in the fields of materials science – The International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) and received the Best Paper Awards at the CJUMP2017 (November 19-21, 2017, Shanghai, China) and the ISGMA2015 (June 23-27, 2015, Qingdao, China) conferences. He has been the recipient of various awards, including the National Government Study Abroad Scholarship of China (2013), the Excellent Master Thesis Award of Shanghai Municipality (2013), the Excellent Graduate Award of Shanghai Municipality (2013), and the National Graduate Scholarship of China (2012).
